Volunteer Clearances

By state law, Penn Christian Academy is required to obtain a copy of clearances from all parent volunteers. The instructions to apply for your clearances are listed below. If you already have your clearances from other volunteer positions or your job and the clearances are less than 5 years old, please make a copy and turn them into the PCA office. If PCA does not have a copy of your clearances on file, you will not be permitted to volunteer at school functions such as classroom parties, field trips or any event that the students are present. Clearances are free for volunteers.

Volunteer Clearances

Act 153 of 2014 was recently adopted by the Pennsylvania Legislature.  Act 153 amends the Child Protective Service Law and includes provisions mandating clearance requirements for all school volunteers.

If your clearances are more than five years old, you must update all three clearances. The three clearances include Act 34 Pennsylvania Criminal History Check, Arrest/Conviction Report, and Act 151 Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance. Instructions on how to obtain the clearances are listed below:

Act 34 PA State Police Criminal Record Check Clearance

Electronic Application: Log on to Click on Record Check. Enter the requested information; there is no charge for volunteers. When your clearance has been processed, click on Certification Form and print at least two copies (one for your files and one for your file at PCA).

Paper applications are available in the office.

Act 151 Child Abuse History Clearance

Electronic Application: Log on to Create an account with user name and password and follow the detailed instructions. By applying for your Child Abuse clearance online, you will have immediate access to the results or status of your results if your results cannot be processed immediately. It will take up to 14 days for you to be able to print a certificate. There is no charge for volunteers.

Arrest/Conviction Report

An Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification Form is available below and in the office instead of obtaining fingerprints.
