At Penn Christian Academy we acknowledge that each person is uniquely designed and created by God to fulfill his purpose. We also believe that every child is precious and important to God (1 Cor. 12:18-19). As a result of this foundational belief, we have made a commitment to try to understand every child, their unique gifts and abilities as well as their specific learning needs.
Penn Christian Academy will consider enrollment for a student who presents a special academic need as long as the classroom setting is academically beneficial to the student. Students who have special academic needs must be able to function successfully in the classroom while faculty and staff members utilize the resources available to them. We believe students with disabilities can contribute much to the general education classroom.
We believe that a combination of inclusion, small group instruction, ability grouping and one-on-one tutoring is the best method to educate students with learning differences. Teachers and administrators together use assessment data, progress monitoring tools and interventions to make the determination about which method is appropriate for students. This methodology is imperative to the academic growth and success of any student.
