Home / Staff Directory Staff Directory Administration Mr. Craig Carnahan Administrator 724-586-5200 x 203 Mr. Carnahan is in his seventh year at Penn Christian Academy and his sixth in the role of Administrator. He earned his B.S. in Secondary Education in Mathematics from Grove City College, and he earned his Master’s in Education from Westminster College. Craig also serves as a commissioner for the ACSI NE Regional Accreditation Commission, as well as the Treasurer for the Greater Pittsburgh Christian School Network Board. Craig attends North Main Street Church of God with his wife and two daughters. Mrs. Holly Depew Dean of Student Life 724-586-5200 x 204 Mrs. Depew earned a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a Licensed Social Worker and is certified in Student Assistance. She is a 2018 graduate of the Colson Fellows Program. Mrs. Depew has held positions as a program therapist at Family Pathways, Irene Stacey and Western Psych with experience in school assessment and collaboration with school staff. This is Holly’s tenth year at PCA. All three of her sons are PCA alumni. Mrs. Megan Tolfa Dean of Academics (724) 586 – 5200 x 206 Mrs. Tolfa has a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Reading from Slippery Rock University. Megan has been with PCA for ten years. She is now serving PCA as the Dean of Academics. Megan and her husband have one son, Luca, who will be entering Kindergarten this year at PCA. Mrs. Saralee Lenhart Director of Business/Communications 724-586-5200 x 202 Mrs. Lenhart earned her BA in Church Ministry and her BA in Communication Arts at Warner University. She is in her fourth year at Penn Christian Academy. Saralee is also serving as the Worship Life Pastor at North Main Street Church of God. She and her husband are PCA parents; 1 of their daughters is currently enrolled and the other three children are PCA graduates. Mr. Brian Cairns Director of Facility Services & Safety 724-586-5200 x 207 Brian is in his ninnth year at Penn Christian Academy. He holds 15+ years experience in his field and is certified in facility management, plumbing and horticulture. He is currently enrolled at BC3 for Business Administration. Brian and his wife have three children Early Education Department Mrs. Heidi Hughes Preschool Teacher 724-586-5200 x 110 Mrs. Hughes received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Slippery Rock University. This is Heidi’s eighth year teaching preschool at Penn Christian Academy. Mrs. Hughes attends Community Alliance church, where she is on the worship team with her husband. Mrs. Lindsey Crummy Preschool Teacher 724-586-5200 x 110 Mrs. Crummy earned a double major in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Grove City College and her Master’s in Reading from Slippery Rock University. Mrs. Crummy joined our full time teaching staff in 2022. Previously, she served part-time as a reading tutor at PCA. Mrs. Crummy also served the Butler Area School District for ten years as a kindergarten teacher and reading specialist. Mrs. Crummy and her husband have two daughters who are both students at PCA. Mrs. Courtney DeVries Kindergarten Teacher Mrs. Amy Woodside Kindergarten Teacher 724-586-5200 x 113 Mrs. Woodside earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University. This is Amy’s seventh year teaching kindergarten at PCA. She owns and operates Amy’s Dance Academy in Saxonburg and Oakmont. Amy loves being a vessel for God and is grateful for grandchildren!! Mrs. Fonda Jones Kindergarten Paraprofessional Mrs. Joeli Powell Kindergarten Paraprofessional Primary Department Mrs. Christine Creely First Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 114 Mrs. Creely has a B.S. in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development from Slippery Rock University. This is Christine’s ninth year teaching first grade at PCA. Mrs. Creely is an experienced teacher, having taught several years for the Mars School District before coming to PCA as a fourth grade teacher. Her daughter is a PCA graduate. Mrs. Kathy McCormick First Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 111 Mrs. McCormick earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Westminster College and her Master’s in Education in Special Education from James Madison University. While this may be Mrs. McCormick’s first year at PCA, she has over 10 years of teaching experience prior to staying home to be with her sons. Kathy has three boys, all of whom are PCA students. Miss Hannah Fryman Second Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 117 Although born in Minnesota, Miss Fryman was raised in Butler and attended Geneva College earning a Bachelor of Science in PreK-4th Grade Education and Special Education PreK-8th Grade. This is her third year at PCA. She previously worked in Reading Intervention and did her student teaching in a first grade classroom in Kenya. She has a younger sister, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She is a member of Community Alliance Church. Mrs. Cameron Barnhart Second Grade Teacher (724) 586 – 5200 x 115 Miss Horwat earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education with a certification in Middle School Math and English from SRU. This is her fifth year at PCA. She also coached basketball at First Baptist Christian School and lacrosse at Seneca Valley. Intermediate Department Mrs. Angie Gillis Third Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 118 Mrs. Gillis is in her 12th year at PCA, where she has faithfully served as a teacher and an administrator. Angie has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Pitt-Johnstown and a Master’s of Education in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College. Angie and her husband are PCA parents, 1 of their sons is currently enrolled and the other two are PCA graduates. Mrs. Leah Clyde Fourth Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 119 Mrs. Clyde comes to PCA from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Science. This is her sixth year teaching at PCA. She is a youth leader at her church. Leah coaches the intramural soccer club. Mrs. Allie Kozlow Fifth Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 120 Mrs. Kozlow earned a B.S. in PK—4 Elementary Education and PK—8 Special Education from Geneva College. This is her first year at Penn Christian Academy, although she has been a substitute for our school last year. She and her new husband are attending Grace Community Church. She also has her own business, Balloons by Allie, that keeps her busy in her downtime. Middle School Department Mrs. Trish Canedy Assistant Dean of Student Life 724-586-5200 x 126 Mrs. Canedy is a Slippery Rock University graduate with a B.S. in Education and Social Work. Patricia is certified in elementary education, middle school English and secondary social studies. She has extensive substitute experience at several different schools. This is her eighth year at PCA. Trish has three adult sons and is a youth leader at her church. Pastor Chris Barnett Bible/Math/History 724-586-5200 x 103 Pastor Barnett earned a B.S. in Education and Business Administration from Northeastern State University. He earned a Master’s in Religion and a Master’s in Divinity from Liberty Theological Seminary. He is entering his second year at PCA. He has six children, two who are students at PCA. He is a member at New Life Christian Church. Mrs. Becky Gore Reading/English/Math (724) 586 – 5200 x 101 Mrs. Gore received a Bachelor of Science in Education from IUP. This is her fifth year at PCA, and her first as a full-time middle school teacher. Her family attends Victory Family Church, where she is a youth leader. She and her husband have four children. Instructional Support & Specials Mrs. Jennifer Barnhart Library & Tech Teacher/Education Resource Manager 724 – 586 – 5200 x 122 This is Mrs. Barnhart’s 12th year at PCA, and while she began her career as a Librarian Assistant, she is excited for her new position as the technology teacher! She has an Associates degree in Education and maintains over 20,000 books in the PCA Library! She and her husband live in South Butler. They have 4 daughters, two of who are PCA alumni and one who is now on staff. Her favorite book is the Bible, and she loves to camp, spend time with family, and find the dirt roads. Mrs. Beth Burlingham Honors Reading Teacher 724 – 586 – 5200 x 104 Mrs. Burlingham earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Certification at Grove City College. She also has a Reading Specialist graduate degree from SRU. Her teaching experience includes public and Christian schools. She and her husband have 2 sons, and both are PCA alumni. This is her 12th year at PCA. Mrs. Wendi Caldwell GLL/Latin/K-2 Reading Support 724 – 586 – 5200 x 106 Mrs. Caldwell is in her third year at PCA. She earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from Grove City College and has worked in education in many different capacities for 25 years. This year she will be co-coaching Odyssey of the Mind. Her daughter attends PCA and is in the 3rd grade. Mrs. Ashley Clyde Art Teacher/MS Paraprofessional 724 – 586 – 5200 x 102 Mrs. Clyde graduated from Grove City College with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Studio Art. In addition to teaching at PCA, she has also taught art at The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh. She has done a handful of mural work through the city. This is Mrs. Clyde’s fifth year as PCA’s Art Teacher. Mrs. Trisha Doverspike Enrichment/Advanced Math 724 – 586 – 5200 x 107 Mrs. Doverspike has been with PCA since 2005. She taught in the Global Learning Lab as well as first and sixth grades for five years before leaving to start her family. Trisha rejoined PCA in 2013 as the Math Enrichment Instructor. She has a degree in Elementary and Special Education from Geneva College. Trisha and her husband have two children, their daughter is in fifth grade, and their son is in third grade here at PCA. She is a member at Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church and loves her new puppy, Hugo. Mrs. Julie Grove 3 – 5 Support Teacher 724 – 586 – 5200 x 105 Mrs. Grove is in her 17th year of teaching at PCA. She also enjoys tutoring students throughout the summer and school year. Mrs. Grove has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Taylor University. She previously taught first and second grades at Eden Christian Academy and worked as a home school evaluator. Mrs. Anna Gilmore Music 724 – 586 – 5200 x 109 Ms. Katie Korff Orchestra/Band 724 – 586 – 5200 x 109 Ms. Korff earned a B.M. in Music Education at Grove City College with a concentration in French Horn. She is in her second year at PCA. She previously taught two years of K-12 music in Montana and two and a half years of beginning strings in the Pine Richland School District. Mrs. Elizabeth Perza Science Teacher 724 – 586 – 5200 x 127 Mrs. Perza holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and is passionate about the sciences. She attended Chatham College as she began working toward her M.A. in Education. Currently, she is completing her master’s in Elementary Education at Liberty University. Elizabeth taught at Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf before joining PCA. This is her seventh year as science teacher at PCA. She has three children, two of which attend PCA.
