She has served PCA as a parent, a paraprofessional, and most recently as a teacher. Mrs. Caldwell loves Penn Christian Academy and is excited to lead the school community. Mrs. Trish Canedy Dean of Student Life & Art 724-586-5200 x 204 Mrs. Canedy is a Slippery Rock University graduate with a B.S. in Education and Social Work. She is certified in elementary education, middle school English and secondary social studies. She has extensive substitute experience at several different schools. Mrs. Canedy has three adult sons and is a youth leader at her church. Mrs. Megan Tolfa Dean of Academics (724) 586 – 5200 x 206 Mrs. Tolfa has a B.S. in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Reading from Slippery Rock University. Megan has been with PCA for over ten years. Megan and her husband have one son, Luca, who is a current student at PCA. Mrs. Ashleigh Machak Director of Business & Technology 724-586-5200 x 201 Mrs. Machak earned her B.S. in Finance at Grove City College. She has served at PCA for over five years. Ashleigh is also serving at her church, Butler Community Alliance. She and her husband have had three PCA students, 2 who are currently attending. Mr. Brian Cairns Director of Facility Services & Safety 724-586-5200 x 207 Brian has served for over ten year at Penn Christian Academy. He holds 15+ years experience in his field and is certified in facility management, plumbing, workforce management and horticulture. Brian and his wife have three children. Mrs. Jodi Glassic DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT & HUMAN RESOURCES 724-586-5200 X 205 Mrs. Glassic has an Associates in Personnel and Human Resources, a B.S. in Management, and a Masters in Business Administration. She has served at PCA for over five years. She also serves in the children’s ministry at her church, Crossway Community Church. She and her husband have had three students at PCA, one who is an alumni. Early Education Department Mrs. Heidi Hughes Preschool Teacher 724-586-5200 x 110 Mrs. Hughes received a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Slippery Rock University. This is Heidi’s eighth year teaching preschool at Penn Christian Academy. Mrs. Hughes attends Community Alliance church, where she is on the worship team with her husband. Mrs. Mollie Hess Preschool Teacher 724-586-5200 x 110 Mrs. Hess earned a B.S. in Environmental Science at Robert Morris University. We welcome her to the PCA staff as this is her first year. Mrs. Hess also serves in children’s ministry at her church, Victory Family Church. She and her husband have two daughters who are both students at PCA. Mrs. Alayna Van Kirk Kindergarten Teacher 724-586-5200 x112 Mrs. Van Kirk earned her B.S. in English at Grove City College. She has also had experience as a substitute teacher and as a private tutor. We welcome her and her husband to the PCA family. Mrs. Amy Woodside Kindergarten Teacher 724-586-5200 x 113 Mrs. Woodside earned her B.S. in Elementary Education from Slippery Rock University. Amy has served at PCA for over five years, teaching kindergarten at PCA. She owns and operates Amy’s Dance Academy in Saxonburg and Oakmont. Amy loves being a vessel for God and is grateful for grandchildren!! Mrs. Fonda Jones Kindergarten Paraprofessional Mrs. Joeli Powell Kindergarten Paraprofessional Primary Department Mrs. Christine Creely First Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 114 Mrs. Creely has a B.S. in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development from Slippery Rock University. She has served PCA for more than ten years teaching first grade. Mrs. Creely is an experienced teacher, having taught several years for the Mars School District before coming to PCA as a fourth grade teacher. Her daughter is a PCA graduate. Mrs. Kathy McCormick First Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 111 Mrs. McCormick earned her B.A. in Elementary Education from Westminster College and her Master’s in Education in Special Education from James Madison University. She is in her third year at PCA. Mrs. McCormick has had over 10 years of teaching experience prior to staying home to be with her sons. She and her husband have three boys, all of whom are PCA students. Mrs. Hannah Updegraff Second Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 117 Mrs. Updegraff earned her B.S. in PreK-4th Grade Education and Special Education PreK-8th Grade at Geneva College. This is her fifth year at PCA. She previously worked in Reading Intervention and did her student teaching in a first grade classroom in Kenya. Mrs. Updegraff and her husband attend Community Alliance Church. Mrs. Cameron Barnhart Second Grade Teacher (724) 586 – 5200 x 115 Mrs. Barnhart earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and Special Education with a certification in Middle School Math and English from Slipper Rock University. She has served at PCA for over five year. Mrs. Barnhart also coached basketball at First Baptist Christian School and lacrosse at Seneca Valley. Intermediate Department Mrs. Angie Gillis Third Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 118 Mrs. Gillis is in her 14th year at PCA, where she has faithfully served as a teacher and an administrator. She has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Pitt-Johnstown and a Master’s of Education in Early Childhood Education from Piedmont College. Mrs. Gillis and her husband are parents to three previous PCA students. Mrs. Courtney DeVries Fourth Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 119 Mrs. DeVries earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education at Cedarville University. She previously taught as one of PCA’s Kindergarten teachers and as a Kindergarten teacher at Kiddie Academy. She and her husband attend Grace Church in Harmony. Mrs. Allie Kozlow Fifth Grade Teacher 724-586-5200 x 120 Mrs. Kozlow earned a B.S. in PK—4 Elementary Education and PK—8 Special Education from Geneva College. This is her third year at Penn Christian Academy. She and her husband are attending Grace Community Church. She also has her own business, Balloons by Allie, that keeps her busy in her downtime. Middle School Department Pastor Chris Barnett Physical & Health Education and MS Bible 724-586-5200 x 103 Pastor Barnett earned a B.S. in Education and Business Administration from Northeastern State University. He earned a Master’s in Religion and a Master’s in Divinity from Liberty Theological Seminary. He is entering his fifth year at PCA. He has six children, one who currently attends PCA. He is a member at New Life Christian Church. Mrs. Becky Gore Middles School Teacher and Library (724) 586 – 5200 x 101 Mrs. Gore received a Bachelor of Science in Education from IUP. She has taught for over five years at PCA. Her family attends Victory Family Church, where she is a youth leader. She and her husband have four children. Instructional Support & Specials Mrs. Beth Burlingham Honors Reading Teacher 724 – 586 – 5200 x 104 Mrs. Burlingham earned a B.A. in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Certification at Grove City College. She also has a Reading Specialist graduate degree from Slippery Rock University. Her teaching experience includes public and Christian schools. Mrs. Burlingham and her husband have 2 sons, and both are PCA alumni. This is her 14th year at PCA. Mrs. Trisha Doverspike Enrichment/Advanced Math 724 – 586 – 5200 x 107 Mrs. Doverspike has been with PCA since 2005. She taught in the Global Learning Lab as well as first and sixth grades for five years before leaving to start her family. Mrs. Doverspike rejoined PCA in 2013 as the Math Enrichment Instructor. She has a degree in Elementary and Special Education from Geneva College. Mrs. Doverspike and her husband have two children, one who currently attends PCA. She and her husband attend at Gospel Fellowship Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Julie Grove 3 – 5 Support Teacher Mrs. Grove is in her 19th year of teaching at PCA. She also enjoys tutoring students throughout the summer and school year. Mrs. Grove has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Taylor University. She previously taught first and second grades at Eden Christian Academy and worked as a home school evaluator. Mrs. Grove and her husband have a son and daughter who are PCA graduates. Ms. Katie Korff Orchestra/Band 724 – 586 – 5200 x 109 Ms. Korff earned a B.M. in Music Education at Grove City College with a concentration in French Horn. She is in her fourth year at PCA. Ms. Korff previously taught two years of K-12 music in Montana and two and a half years of beginning strings in the Pine Richland School District. Mrs. Elizabeth Perza Science & Technology Teacher 724 – 586 – 5200 x 127 Mrs. Perza holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology and is passionate about the sciences. She attended Chatham College as she began working toward her M.A. in Education. Currently, she is completing her master’s in Elementary Education at Liberty University. Elizabeth taught at Pressley Ridge School for the Deaf before joining PCA. This is her ninth year as science teacher at PCA. She and her husband have three children, two of whom attend PCA. He and his wife Saralee have four children who have attended PCA, one who is currently attending. He’s been a Christ follower since the age of 14 and has become passionate about leading and guiding others to take the initiative to study, learn and understand scripture for the purpose of life change.
